Review: Nihuo Web Log Analyzer

By Manoj Jasra

Recently I got the opportunity to test drive the Nihuo Web Log Analyzer and I was pleasantly surprised with the number of quality reports it produces (all very simple and cosmetically pleasing).

After analysis, it generated over 150 reports detailing metrics such as referrals, servers, file types, time spent, search engines, spiders, and directories. The Nihuo website reports that their log file analyzer can parse 1.4 gb/minutes, I ran a 1.2 gigabyte local log file through and it took just under 2 minutes. A sample of Nihuo's log file reports can be found here.

The GUI was was very simple to use and I was able to configure log file parsing in seconds. The configuration for the identification of spiders, operating systems, file types, browsers and search engines was quite thorough. I also liked the scheduler feature of the Log Analyzer which allows users to automate the parsing of log files down to the minute (if necessary).

The Nihuo web log analyzer is priced at 8 different levels, starting at $99 for the standard version and progressively higher for the unlimited enterprise version. There is also an option to test out the Nihuo log analyzer through its free trial version.

The product comes with dozens of features but here are a few of the ones I found useful:
• Cache for downloaded log files

• Page title retrieval

• Search Spider Analysis

• Bounce Rate Analysis

• Auto Detection of Log Files

You might also recognize some of these companies who use Nihuo's log file Analyzer:
• Columbia University

• Cornell University

• Microsoft

• Siemens

• Sprint

• Symantec

• Verizon Wireless
